LEONARDO DA VINCI. SCIENCE BEFORE SCIENCE

Select your language :

The display presents Leonardo da Vinci to a broad public while casting light on the tight cultural network that connects engineering, technology, art and thought during the XV and XVI century.
The exhibition retraces Leonardo’s technological and scientific work from his training in Tuscany, to the Milanese years, up to the later period in Rome.

In parallel, it highlights the cultural connections with the intellectuals living at his time, finally showing a broader perspective on this great character, that has often been depicted as an isolated genius.
Ten original drawings by Leonardo and more than 200 works – precious models, manuscripts, drawings, books, prints and paintings – from illustrious Italian and European institutions accompany visitors in the discovery of the major themes that Leonardo addressed as a Renaissance artist and technologist, at the centre of the debate among his contemporaries.
