The history of the Committee

On December 11, 2017, the committee for the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci took office at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, called upon to evaluate the initiatives to be promoted in 2019 to commemorate this great Renaissance artist .

The committee is composed by Professor Barbara Agosti, Professor of History of Art Criticism at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, by architect Pinin Brambilla Barcilon, restorer of the fresco The Last Supper in the complex of Santa Maria delle Grazie Milan, by Dr. Roberta Barsanti, director of the Leonardiano di Vinci Museum, by dr. Alessandro Cecchi, Director of the Casa Buonarroti Foundation, by Professor Vincent Delieuvin, Conservator of 16th Century Italian Painting at the Louvre Museum, by Dr. Mario De Simoni, CEO of Ales, by Professor Maria Teresa Fiorio, Professor of Museology at the University of Studies of Milan, by architect Antonio Forcellino, restorer, by Dr. Fiorenzo Galli, director general of the Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci of Milan, by Professor Paolo Galluzzi, director of the Museo Galileo of Florence, by professor Pietro Marani, professor of History of Modern Art at the Polytechnic of Milan, by the architect Antonia Pasqua Recchia, adviser to the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities, by Dr. Sabrina Sammuri, Director General of cultures, identity and autonomy of the Lombardy Region, and by Professor Luke Syson, curator of European sculpture and decorative arts at the Metropolitan Museum from New York. In its first session, the committee unanimously elected its president in the person of Paolo Galluzzi, who in starting the work reminded Carlo Pedretti, a distinguished Leonardian scholar recently deceased, and then collect the first elements useful for the elaboration of a program of initiatives capable of celebrating this important anniversary.
